
November 2, 2024 – Siddwan Khurd: Khalsa College for Women, Siddwan Khurd, organized a vibrant and educational event on "Punjabi Province Day" to honor the cultural and historical significance of Punjab. The event, led by Principal Dr. Amandeep Kaur, and coordinated by the Post Graduate Punjabi Department and Punjabi Sahitya Sabha, brought together faculty and students for a day of learning and commemoration. Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Head of the Punjabi Department, delivered an insightful speech detailing the historical demand for a Punjabi province, the sacrifices made by struggle warriors, and the importance of the Punjabi language. Emphasizing the contributions of those who fought for Punjabi identity, Dr. Balwinder Kaur presented an account of the struggle for a Punjabi province, tracing its roots to the partition in 1966 and the ensuing challenges. The event featured student-made posters highlighting key aspects of Punjabi heritage, including the division of the Punjabi state and the protection and development of the Punjabi language. Adding a cinematic touch, the students also watched the Punjabi telefilms Dharti Hethla Balad, which illustrates resilience and cultural pride. Addressing the participants, Principal Dr. Amandeep Kaur underscored the significance of Punjab, Punjabi culture, and Punjabi heritage. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 30 female students and the entire college staff, creating an atmosphere of pride and unity in the Punjabi heritage and language.
