Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd is hosting Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of PU, Chandigarh, Moga- Ferozepur Zone-B under the able guidance of the Principal (Addl. Charge) Dr. Amandeep Kaur. On the second day of the gala event on 9.10.2023, Mrs. Manjeet Kaur (SDM, Jagraon) graced the programme as the Chief Guest. Dr. Amandeep Kaur extended a heartiest welcome to the Chief Guest and the guests who joined the event. Mrs. Manjeet Kaur in her address paid homage to the revered Founders for their exemplary vision. She said that Sidhwan Institutions started with the noble goal of achieving comprehensive development of the girls of this rural region will continue taking grand strides on the path of progress. She said that Youth Festivals are a wonderful platform for students to highlight their unique talent and successfully achieve their aims in the future. On the second day music items including Percussion, Non-percussion, Indian Orchestra were conducted. In theatrical items Mime, Skit, Mimicry, Bhand , Histrionics, One Act Play were performed. On- stage literary items Debate, Elocution, Poetical Recitation and Muhaverdar Vartalap were organized. Photography, On the Spot Painting, Collage Making, Clay Modelling, Rangoli Cartooning, Still Life, Installation and Poster Making were held. The host college bagged 18 prizes in the various events held on the first day of the festival. First prize was secured in Group Dance, Dasuti, Classical Dance, Poetry Writing, Story Writing, Handwriting (Punjabi and Hindi) items. The host college bagged second position in Group Shabad, Ladies Traditional Song, Pakhi Making, Group Song (Indian). Third prize was won in Bagh, Crochet, Poetry Writing, Handwriting (Punjabi) and Giddha. The students also brought laurels in Group Shabad, Group Dance and Geet categories. Sunaini Sharma, grand-daughter of Surinder Kaur who was famous as Nightingale of Punjab, enthralled the audience with her Folk Songs and imparted a Punjabi culture tinge to the festival. The Chief Guest was honoured with a memontoe. S. Pritam Singh Johal, Secretary, S. Kirpal Singh Bhattal, Manager and S. Harmail Singh Sidhu, Member of SGHGU Hari Trust graced the event with their esteemed presence
