Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival Reaches Successful Culmination at Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd

Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of PU, Chandigarh, Moga- Ferozepur Zone-B, being organized at Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd from 8.10.2023 to 10.10.2023 reached its successful culmination on 10.10.2023. S. Kuldeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Moga graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Prabhdeep Singh, District Public Relations Officer, Moga was the Guest of Honour. Principal (Addl. Charge), Dr. Amandeep Kaur extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and other dignitaries. Addressing the audience S. Kuldeep Singh shared his personal journey from a humble background to a bureaucrat and encouraged the students to select a goal and work diligently to achieve it as human beings have infinite physical and mental strength that need to be channelized in the right direction. He also stressed on the need for inspiration by the teachers that can alter the course of life of a student. On the last day of the festival various items like Kavishri, Vaar, Kali Singing, Folk Instruments, Folk Orchestra, Folk Dance were conducted. Heritage Quiz was organized that gave the young students a chance to display their knowledge of Punjabi linguistic expressions. Competitions in traditional craft items like Guddian Patole, Chhiku Making, Pranda Making, Naala Making, Tokri Making, Mitti de Khidaune, Khiddo, Peehri, Rassa Vattna and Ennu Making gave an opportunity to the students to display their talent in heritage items that are fast becoming extinct. The host college bagged 25 prizes in the competitions held on the second day of the festival. First prize was secured in Still Life, Installation, Non Percussion, Indian Orchestra, On the Spot Painting, Rangoli, Skit and Mime categories. Second position was won in Poetry Recitation, Muhaveredar Vartalap, Collage Making, One Act Play, Histrionics, Mimicry and Debate items. In Poster Making, Photography, Clay Modelling, Bhand the host institution got third prize. The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour were felicitated. S. Pritam Singh Johal, Secretary, S. Kirpal Singh Bhattal, Manager and S. Harmail Singh Sidhu, Member of SGHGU Hari Trust graced the event with their esteemed presence.
