Under the aegis of SGHGU Hari Trust and able guidance of Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Principal, Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, the PG Department of Punjabi of the College and GHG Harparkash College of Education, Sidhwan Khurd jointly organized one day international seminar titled “Punjabi Sahit de Vikas vich Nari Sahitkaran di Bhumika.” The event was organized in collaboration with Punjabi Sahit Academy, Chandigarh and Jagat Punjabi Sahit Academy, Canada. S. Ajaib Singh Chattha, Chairman, Jagat Punjabi Sabha Canada was the esteemed chief guest. The programme commenced with shabad recital followed by lighting of the lamp ceremony. Saplings were presented to the dignitaries. Dr. Amandeep Kaur delivered the formal welcome address and greeted the luminaries and delegates. In the inaugural session, Dr. Inderjit Kaur, HOD, PG Department of Punjabi of the College and Co-convener of the Seminar presented an overview of the theme and conducted the proceedings. Dr. Sarabjit Kaur Sohal, President, Punjabi Sahit Sabha, Chandigarh graced the occasion and presided over as Chairperson. She stressed on the need to reflect upon the fundamental changes in literature by women observed through the passage of time and creation of awareness on women related issues. In his keynote address Dr. Satnam Singh Jassal, Dean, Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda enlightened the audience on the role played by women in the generation of various social aspects, and the subsequent degradation in the status of women in patriarchal society as compared to a high place accorded to her in the tribal groups. Chief guest S. Ajaib Singh Chattha, addressed the audience and said that a woman plays the most significant and humane role in familial relations. S. Arvinder Singh Dhillon, Coordinator, Jagat Punjabi Sabha (India) who was the guest of honour spoke on the occasion and highlighted the contribution of Punjabi women writers, Dr. Dalip Kaur Tiwana and Amrita Pritam in portraying contemporary situation of women. He lauded the magazine “Nagmani” for giving opportunity to women editors. The first technical session was chaired by Dr. Raminder Kaur, formerly Dean, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Dr. Jagminder Kaur from Punjabi Department, GHG Harparkash College of Education, Sidhwan Khurd conducted the session. Delegates Dr. Gurcharan Kaur Kochar, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Brar, Dr. Pushwinder Kaur Khokhar and Dr. Inderjit Kaur explored the myriad aspects of the topic through their paper presentations. In the second technical session Dr. Satnam Singh Jassal was the chairperson. Delegates Dr. Jagjit Singh, Dr. Amaninderpreet Chahal, Dr. Simarjit Gill, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Sona, Dr. Satpreet Singh and S. Harjinder Singh presented papers reflecting on the theme of the seminar from varied perspectives .Third technical session was conducted in online mode and was chaired by S. Ajaib Singh Chattha. Dr. Gurwinder Singh from Punjabi Department of GHG Harparkash College of Education, Sidhwan Khurd conducted the session and 19 delegates presented their papers. Book titled “Ravinder Ravi de Kav Natak (Samajwadi Drishti ton)” authored by Dr. Inderjit Kaur was released on the event and she was felicitated by Jagat Punjabi Sabha, Canada. S. Harmail Singh Sidhu, worthy senior member of SGHGU Hari Trust made the occasion more special by his presence and accompanied the Principal in honouring the distinguished guests with mementos and shawls. Dr. Shveta Dhand, officiating Principal, GHG Institute of Law attended the programme. Dr. Amandeep Kaur proposed formal vote of thanks.
