PG Department of Punjabi and Punjab Literary Society, Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd under the able guidance of Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Principal (Addl. Charge) organized the screening of two Tele -films based on the prescribed syllabi of Panjab University, Chandigarh on 28.03.2024 to marK World Theatre Day. Dr. Inderjit Kaur, HoD, PG Department of Punjab acquainted the students to the historical significance of the day and shared valuable information about Punjabi theatre and performance. Tele -film based on Kulwant Singh Virk’s story ‘ Dharti Hathla Bald ‘ was shown to students of first year classes of B.A., B.A.BEd and BSc.BEd. The metaphorical significance of the title is embodied by the obligation shouldered by Karam Singh’s father. Tele -film based on Gurdial Singh’s noval ‘Anne Ghode da Dan ‘was screened for third year classes of B.A. and B.A.BEd. In this film the medium of myth is used to convey the disparity between high caste and Dalit people in our society. Dr. Balwinder Kaur conducted a group discussion on the themes presented in the Tele -films. Dr. Amandeep Kaur said that such events are an endeavour to introduce students to our literature. Dr. Inderjit Kaur and Dr. Balwinder Kaur were the incharges of the programme. Prof. Aneet Kaur provided technical assistance. 76 students participated in the event.
