Under the aegis of SGHGU Hari Trust Sidhwan Group of Institutions celebrated Founders’ Day on October 21, 2024 to commemorate the legendary donors Bhai Narain Singh Ji, Bebe Ram Kaur Ji , Padam Shri awardee Bibi Harparkash Kaur Ji and Bibi Attar Kaur Ji who bequeathed the golden legacy of service to the cause of female education. His Excellency Governor of Punjab, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Guard of Honour was presented to him. He exhibited his veneration for the Founders by paying floral tributes.The programme commenced with the Bhog Ceremony of Sehaj path at the campus Gurudwara Sahib. Hazoori Ragi , Shri Harmandir Sahib, Bhai Gurjinder Singh and his Jathha recited Shabads and imbued the atmosphere in spiritual fervour with soulful renditions. Students revered the memory of the pioneers by singing Shabads, Poetical Recitation, Kavishri and speeches. The programme continued at Guru Nanak Bhawan where the Chief Guest was greeted with a bouquet. Lamp Lighting Ceremony was conducted. Honourable Manager, SGHGU Hari Trust, Dr. GS Grewal accorded a ceremonial welcome to the distinguished personalities. He shared the illustrious history of Sidhwab Group of Institutions and highlighted the contemporary achievements. Bani Diwas Scholarships were awarded to the students who excelled in academic, religious, sports and cultural activities. 57 students were given Scholarships amounting to rupees One Lakh Eighty Nine Thousand. Prizes were given to student achievers. Student of the year awards were given to Garima Sharma of Khalsa College for Women, Rupinder Kaur of GHG Harparkash College of Education for Women, Ayusha of GHG Institute of Law, Prabhnoor Kaur and Navjot Kaur of Sikh Girls Senior Secondary School and Sherry Mann of GHG Public School. Shri Gulab Chand Kataria , esteemed Governor of Punjab paid homage to the visionary Founders and said that it was a matter of immense pride for him to visit a place where women education was introduced in a village when it was a rarity in urban areas. He congratulated the Management, staff and students who were contributing to a noble cause. He emphasized the role of the teacher as a ' guru' and said that "guru" has been accorded the highest status in Indian society. S. Pritam Singh Johal, Secretary, SGHGU Hari Trust expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest for adorning the event with his gracious presence. S. Pritam Singh Johal, Dr. GS Grewal and Management members S Devinder Singh Mann and S Jarnail Singh Dhillon along with the Principals of the educational institutions under the aegis of SGHGU Hari Trust felicitated Shri Gulab Chand Kataria.
