Under the exemplary guidance of SGHGU Hari Trust, Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, celebrated the festival of Lohri with immense joy and cultural enthusiasm on 13-01-2025.The event brought together staff, students and the community in a joyous celebration of cultural heritage and unity. The Chief guest of the Lohri function was Dr. Harmail Singh Sidhu, a distinguished member of the SGHGU Hari Trust, whose presence added prestige to the event. Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur warmly welcomed the chief guest, Dr. Harmail Singh Sidhu, by presenting a sapling as a token of respect and appreciation. The event was further enriched by the presence of Mrs. Daljit Kaur, Principal of Sikh Girls Senior Secondary School, Sidhwan Khurd. The festivities commenced with the customary ritual of offering 'til' to the bonfire, symbolizing gratitude and reverence for the agricultural roots of the festival. The crackling flames of the bonfire created an atmosphere of warmth and festive cheer, as participants gathered to embrace the spirit of togetherness and prosperity. Students added to the celebratory mood with a variety of cultural performances, including heartfelt poems, traditional geet, captivating speeches, and energetic dances. Each performance showcased the student’s talent and their deep connection to the cultural significance of Lohri. The presence of students from Sikh Girls Senior Secondary School and GHG Public School, Sidhwan Khurd, added youthful energy and joy to the Lohri celebration. Dr. Harmail Singh Sidhu addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of equality between sons and daughters in Lohri celebrations. He highlighted the inclusive nature of the festival and encouraged everyone to honor its rituals together, fostering unity and harmony. Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur extended heartfelt congratulations to Khwaab, son of Mr. Ashish Kumar, as well as Raghav and Reet, the son and daughter of Mr. Sumit Kumar, on the auspicious occasion of their first Lohri. She also conveyed warm wishes to the newlywed staff members, Mrs. Harjeet Kaur and Mrs. Rajni, as they celebrated their first Lohri with joy and tradition. The event was meticulously organized by Dr. Gagandeep Dharni and Dr. Inderjit Kaur, whose coordination made the celebration memorable. Gomsi student of B.Com-I, skillfully hosted and managed the stage event. The event concluded with a festive distribution of traditional treats, including groundnuts and rewari, for both students and teachers. A delightful refreshment session was also organized for the teachers, providing an opportunity for camaraderie and togetherness. The Lohri celebration was a perfect blend of cultural heritage and community spirit, leaving everyone with cherished memories of this joyous occasion.
