International Women’s Day celebrated with fervour at Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd

Under the aegis of SGHGU Hari Trust, Sidhwan Khurd and the able guidance of the College Principal, Dr Satinder Kaur, Bibi Harparkash Kaur library, in association with Red Ribbon and Social Science Forum celebrated International Women’s Day dedicated to Padam Shri Bibi Harparkash Kaur Ji on 8 March, 2025. The college is celebrating 75 years of excellence in education and the motto of the college for this year is “Plant Tree, Save Tree and Save Womb” ( r`uK lgwau, r`uK bcwau, ku`K bcwau ) and in this direction saplings were planted on the occasion. The chief guest for the occasion was Mrs Gurjeet Kaur Sidhu, Sarpanch of Sidhwan Kalan Village and alumnus of the college. She was accompanied by her mother-in-law Mrs Manjeet Kaur retired from education sector also alumnus of Sidhwan Educational Institutions. The event began with the gracious welcome by the college principal Dr Satinder Kaur who welcomed and honoured the guests. Madam Principal expressed her views on women empowerment highlighting women’s strength, dedication, bravery, selflessness and honesty and shared Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s strong belief in greatness of the womanhood. Mrs Manjit Kaur shared her experiences in Sidhwan Educational Institutions and she also shared her life journey with the students. The events like quiz competition dedicated to Padamshri Bibi Harparkash Kaur ji, book exhibition and a short movie “Ek Kadam” was showed to the students. Four teams comprising of three students participated in the quiz and Bibi Harparkash Kaur team got first position, Kalpana Chawla team got second position and Savitribai Phule team got third position. The students also presented poems dedicated to women’s strength and selflessness.  Dr Navdip Kaur Senior Faculty Member exemplify through Anuradha Beniwal‘s book “ Azadi Mera Brand”,  that women freedom and security are interlinked and dependent upon each other. She also advised the students to be responsible and dedicated towards their parents and society as well. She formally thanked the guest, faculty members and students and wished all Happy Women’s day.  The organisers of the function are Dr Navdip Kaur, Mrs Hardeep Kaur, Dr Jasdeep Kaur, Dr Mahipal Dutt and Mrs Karamdeep Kaur. 55 students participated in the function.
