The traditional festival of Teej and Freshers Party were organised at Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd on August 14, 2025, a premier rural women education institution of the region. Dr. Amandeep Kaur Bakshi , Principal, Eastwood Public School graced the event as Chief Guest and was accorded a floral welcome. Dr. Inderjit Kaur formally welcomed the distinguished guests. Manmehak Preet. Kaur of BA II extended heartiest greetings to all the new students in whose honour his welcome party was organised. Gomsi of B Com II enlightened the audience about the customary significance of Teej celebrations and its relevance in contemporary times. Gaiety and fervour marked the occasion as a colourful cultural programme comprising of energetic dances, folk songs, Giddha and mimicry enlivened the atmosphere. Miss Teej contest was held in which the participants walked the ramp wearing heritage jewellrey and traditional attire. The winners were declared on the basis of introduction round and question answer session on the knowledge of Punjabi culture. Harmandeep Kaur of BA III was crowned Miss Teej. Ekaspreet Kaur of BSc BEd II and Anshdeep Kaur of BA II bagged the first runners up and second runners up position respectively. Gureet Kaur of BSc BEd II was awarded consolation prize. Miss Fresher Competition was also organized in which the freshers enthusiastically participated. They mesmerized the audience in the Ramp walk round . Questions were asked to asses their presence of mind and overall awareness on various issues in the second round. Himani of BSc I was declared Miss Fresher. Parneet Kaur of BA I and Ekampreet Kaur of BSc I were judged first runners up and second runners up respectively. The Chief guest Dr. Amandeep Kaur Bakshi addressed the audience and said that the students who have chosen KCW, Sidhwan Khurd are indeed blessed to join a premier institution renowned for its skill development, inculcation of strong value system and quality faculty. Dr. Satinder Kaur Principal of the college thanked Dr. Bakshi for sparing her precious time and accepting the invitation at a short notice. She acknowledged her gratefulness to Mrs. Daljit Kaur, Miss. Sandeep Kaur, Dr G. Pawan Kumar, Dr. Padmavati heads of sister concerns under the aegis of Sidhwan Group of Institutions. Vice Principal, Dr. Puneeta also attended the event. Dr. Satinder Kaur inspired the students to attain unprecedented success in academics and co curricular activities during the landmark year of the 75th anniversary of its establishment. She conveyed her best wishes to everyone on the auspicious festival of Teej. She praised the dazzling performance of the students and lauded the efforts of the organizing team for putting forth a brilliant show. Gagandeep Kaur of BCom I expressed her gratitude towards the seniors and faculty for making the day memorable for the new comers. Dr. Inderjit Kaur, co convenor of the programme along with Garima Sharma of BCom III and Taranpreet of BCA III conducted the proceedings of the stage effectively .Dr. Gagandeep Dharni , convenor of the function proposed the formal vote of thanks. Dr. Amandeep Kaur Bakshi was felicitated with a memento.
