National Sports Day was celebrated at Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd on August 29, 2025. The day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Olympian Major Dhyan Chand, the internationally acclaimed Indian hockey player known as the ' wizard of hockey.' The programme was held under the aegis of Department of Physical Education in collaboration with Sports Committee and NSS Units. Prof. Ramandeep Kaur was the incharge of the function. Dr. Satinder Kaur, Principal, formally declared the event open. Muskan Gill administered the oath of integrity to the players. Competitions in various sports categories like Yoga, 50 mts. Race, 4× 100 Relay Race, Tug of War, Sack Race and Three Legged Race were held in which athletes participated with vigour and enthusiasm. Musical Chair item was organized for the faculty. The winners were felicitated. Dr. Satinder Kaur addressed the audience and conveyed her good wishes to all on this auspicious occasion and introduced them to Major Dhyan Chand’s illustrious career sharing interesting anecdotes about his unflinching patriotism and wide popularity. She told about the endeavours being undertaken for encouraging sports in the college under the dynamic leadership of the worthy management and inspired the students to reach pinnacles of glory in Sports. She congratulated the organizing team and then declared the event closed. The function ended with the recital of National Anthem. Dr.Manpreet Kaur conducted the proceedings of the event effectively.
