Under the aegis of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust and the able guidance of Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur, a seven-day NSS Special Camp on the theme “Youth for Digital India and Drug-Free Society” was inaugurated on September 20, 2025 at Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd. The programme was commenced with the welcome of Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur by presenting a sapling as a symbol of growth and sustainability. The ceremony began with the soulful rendition of Deh Shiva Shabad, followed by the NSS clap and NSS song which infused the gathering with zeal and enthusiasm. NSS volunteer Harshdeep Kaur (B.Sc. B.Ed. II Medical) highlighted the importance of NSS, while NSS volunteer Ashnoor Kamboj (B.Sc. B.Ed. II Medical) gave a briefing on the theme of the camp. After the theme briefing, Ashnoor led the volunteers in taking the NSS pledge, reaffirming their dedication to selfless service and social responsibility. Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur emphasized the significance of observing the day as Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Martyrdom Day or Manavta Diwas. She urged the volunteers to imbibe the spirit of compassion, humanity and selfless service following the ideals of Bhai Ghanaiya Ji. She also stated that volunteers must come forward to spread awareness against the menace of drugs and should act as torchbearers of digital literacy to build a progressive society. Vice Principal Dr. Navdip Kaur also graced the occasion with her presence, adding to the solemnity of the event. The event was coordinated under the dedicated supervision of NSS Programme Officers Dr. Inderjit Kaur and Dr. Amandeep Kaur along with Prof. Gurjeet Singh who motivated the volunteers to contribute wholeheartedly throughout the camp. A total of 50 volunteers actively participated in the inauguration ceremony. The camp holds great importance as it not only provides students with opportunities for community service but also instills in them the values of discipline, leadership and social responsibility.
