Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd Promotes Human Values and Awareness through United Nations Day and Red Ribbon Week Celebrations

Under the patronage of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust and the able guidance of Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur, the Social Science Forum and Red Ribbon Club of Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd celebrated United Nations (UN) Day and Red Ribbon Week on October 23, 2025. The event reflected the institution’s unwavering commitment to promoting global awareness, human values and community well-being. The celebration commenced with a thought-provoking discourse by Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur who shared profound insights into the origin and objectives of the United Nations, the historical backdrop of the Second World War and the transition from the League of Nations to the UN. She elucidated key concepts such as positive peace, human rights and collective security, while also emphasizing the UN’s pivotal role in ensuring global harmony.A visually engaging PowerPoint presentation on the United Nations was presented by Prabhjot Kaur and Manmeet Kaur of B.A. Ist, followed by articulate speeches on the Importance of the UN Day by Arpan Kaur , Jaspreet Kaur, Harjas Kaur of B.A. I and Sukhmanpreet Kaur of B.Sc. I. Manmehak Kaur of BA-III delivered an insightful talk on the symbolism and importance of the Red Ribbon, emphasizing compassion, awareness and solidarity with those affected by HIV/AIDS.Prof. Gurjeet Singh enlightened the audience with a captivating lecture on the History of Red Ribbon Week and the urgent need for youth-driven awareness on drug prevention and health empowerment. The stage was gracefully conducted by Prof. Karamdeep Kaur. The formal Vote of Thanks was extended by Vice Principal Dr. Navdip Kaur who lauded the collective efforts of students and faculty in organizing such awareness-oriented programs.The event culminated on an inspiring note, fostering a spirit of global harmony, compassion and civic responsibility among students.
