Under the aegis of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust and the able guidance of Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur, the Red Ribbon Club and NSS Units of Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd organized an Extension Lecture entitled “Drug Abuse” on 29-10-25. The resource person of the day was Dr. Surjit Singh from Govt. Inservice Training Centre, Ludhiana. He was warmly welcomed by Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur with a sapling as a token of respect and appreciation. In his thought-provoking address, Dr. Surjit Singh highlighted the psychological, social and emotional factors leading to drug addiction. He explained the adverse effects of drugs on physical health, mental balance and family relationships. He further emphasized that students can play a vital role in spreading awareness about drug prevention in society through rallies, slogan writing, poster campaigns and community interaction. He also underlined the significance of Punjabi culture and traditional values in shaping a disciplined and drug-free lifestyle, urging the youth to stay connected to their roots, moral ethics and positive community practices. Vice Principal Dr. Navdip Kaur and NSS Programme Officer Dr. Inderjit Kaur also graced the occasion with their presence. The resource person was honored with a memento and prizes were awarded to the winners of the quiz competition organized by the Red Ribbon Club. The stage was efficiently conducted by Prof. Hardeep Kaur while the event was successfully coordinated by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Amandeep Kaur along with Red Ribbon Club member Prof. Gurjeet Singh. The event served as a powerful platform to sensitize students about the harmful effects of drugs and to encourage their active participation in building a healthy, responsible and drug-free society. A total of 73 students attended the lecture with great enthusiasm.
