Panjab University Inter-College Gatka Competition Inaugurated at Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd

 

Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, a renowned institution, running under the aegis of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust is presently organizing the Panjab University, Chandigarh Inter-College Gatka Competition on February 10–11, 2026. The event aimed to promote traditional martial arts, physical fitness and the rich cultural heritage of Punjab among the youth. The inaugural day of the event was graced by Sh. Harpreet Singh Sudan, IAS, Director, Sports, Government of Punjab as the Chief Guest with Dr. Rakesh Malik, Director, Directorate of Sports, Panjab University, Chandigarh, dignifying the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed with floral bouquets by the Honourable Trust Secretary, S. Pritam Singh Johal; Manager, Dr. G. S. Grewal and esteemed members S. Harmail Singh Sidhu and S. Jarnail Singh Dhillon. Teams from various colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh participated enthusiastically. Events under the men’s category were held, in which participating teams displayed remarkable skill and coordination in the Farri Soti (Team and Individual) and Single Soti (Team and Individual) events. Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, Chandigarh won the overall first position, Giani Kartar Singh Memorial College, Tanda Urmur secured the overall second position and SCD Government College, Ludhiana achieved the overall third position. The winners were felicitated by the Honourable Trust Secretary, S. Pritam Singh Johal. Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur congratulated the participants and reiterated the institution’s commitment to preserving Punjab’s rich martial heritage through such meaningful initiatives.
