Panjab University Inter-College Gatka Competitions Successfully Concluded at Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan khurd

 

Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, an esteemed institution running under the patronage of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust hosted the valedictory ceremony of Two-Days Inter-College Gatka Competition of Panjab University, Chandigarh on February 11, 2026. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Sh. Kuldeep Chugh, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana. The occasion was further dignified by the presence of S. Gurjit Singh, Shooting Coach, Punjab Sports Department, Ludhiana. The distinguished dignitaries were warmly welcomed by Honourable Trust Member, S. Harmail Singh Sidhu and Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur, who expressed their sincere gratitude for the gracious presence of the guests. Events under the women’s category, including Farri Soti (Team and Individual) and Single Soti (Team and Individual) were conducted with great enthusiasm. In total, 12 teams from various affiliated colleges participated in the competition, displaying commendable coordination, courage and sportsmanship. Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College for Women, Dasuya won the overall first position, Government College for Girls, Ludhiana achieved the second position and Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, Chandigarh bagged the third position. Sh. Kuldeep Chug while addressing, emphasized the importance of physical fitness and encouraged students to participate in sports not merely for winning medals but for maintaining good health and discipline. The Chief Guest was honoured with a memento as a token of respect and appreciation. The winners were felicitated for their outstanding performances. The Gatka competition was efficiently supervised by S. Simranjeet Singh and his team from the Chandigarh Gatka Association. The formal vote of thanks was proposed by Honourable Trust Member, S. Harmail Singh Sidhu, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, distinguished guests, participants and organizers for making the event a grand success. The ceremony concluded on a proud and celebratory note, reaffirming the institution’s dedication to preserving traditional martial arts and fostering holistic development among students.
