66th Annual Sports Meet celebrated at Sidhwan Group of Institutions

Under the patronage of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust, the Sidhwan Group of Institutions successfully celebrated 66th Annual Sports Meet on 10th February 2026 with great enthusiasm. The prestigious event was graced by the Chief Guest, S. Harpreet Singh Sudan (IAS), Director of Sports, Government of Punjab and the Guest of Honour, Dr. Rakesh Malik, Director, Directorate of Sports, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The occasion was further dignified by the esteemed presence of S. Pritam Singh Johal (Secretary), Dr. Gurinder Singh Grewal (Manager), Dr. Harmail Singh Sidhu (Member) and S. Jarnail Singh Dhillon (Member) of the Trust. The occasion was honoured by the presence of the Principals of the Sidhwan institutions—Mrs. Daljit Kaur (Principal, Sikh Girls Senior Secondary School), Dr. Satinder Kaur (Principal, Khalsa College for Women), Dr. Amandeep Kaur (Principal, GHG Harparkash College of Education), Ms. Sandeep Kaur (Principal, GHG Public Senior Secondary School), Dr. Shweta Dhand (Principal, G.H.G. Institute of Law) and Dr. G. Pavan Kumar (Principal, GHG Institute of Pharmacy, Sidhwan Khurd). The programme commenced with the ceremonial flag hoisting, escorted by the NCC Wing followed by the lighting of the torch, symbolizing the true spirit of sportsmanship. This was followed by the administration of the sports oath, where participants pledged to uphold honesty, discipline and fair play. The release of balloons and pigeons marked the formal inauguration of the meet. An impressive March Past by the students added grandeur to the ceremony. Students of Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd actively participated in various athletic events, demonstrating remarkable enthusiasm, strength and competitive spirit. The students also presented a spectacular Dumbbell PT display followed by a graceful Yoga performance. A vibrant cultural programme featuring a folk orchestra further added colour and entertainment to the event. S. Jasbir Singh and his team from Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Gatka Akhara, Giaspura (Ludhiana) presented a captivating Gatka performance, displaying exceptional skill, coordination and the rich martial tradition of Sikh heritage. In recognition of outstanding performance, Gurpreet Kaur was declared the Best Athlete, while Bibi Harparkash Kaur House won the trophy for Best House. The Chief Guest appreciated the participants for their sportsman spirit and dedication and distributed prizes to the winners. S. Pritam Singh Johal, Honourable Secretary of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust proposed the formal vote of thanks and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests, participants and organizers for making the event a grand success. The event concluded with the National Anthem, leaving everyone inspired and filled with pride, thus marking the successful culmination of the 66th Annual Sports Meet.
