Under the aegis of SGHGU Hari Trust and the able guidance of the College
Principal (Officiating), Dr. Navdip Kaur, and in compliance with the instructions
of the Director, Department of Higher Education, SAS Nagar, Punjab, the Social
Sciences Forum in collaboration with the PG Department of Punjabi organised a
seminar highlighting the life, struggles and teachings of Bhagat Guru Ravidas Ji.
During the seminar, students presented insightful papers focusing on the life,
struggles, philosophy and teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji. Their presentations
reflected his profound contribution to social reforms. Prof. Hardeep Kaur shared
her views on the significance of Guru Ravidas Ji’s teachings and highlighted his
role in making the Bhakti movement a powerful force for social reforms. Guru
Ravidas Ji beautifully combined devotion to God with a strong message of social
equality, thereby emerging as one of the significant voices of the Bhakti
movement. Dr. Inderjit Kaur shared her views on the significance of Guru Ravidas
Ji’s teachings and highlighted his profound contribution to social reforms. She
emphasised that his poetry, expressed in the language of ordinary people, made his
message accessible to the masses. The College Principal ( Officiating) , Dr. Navdip
Kaur, highlighted Guru Ravidas Ji’s efforts towards eliminating untouchability and
challenging the caste system. She elaborated on his teachings of equality, Naam
Simran and the rejection of caste-based discrimination, emphasising their
relevance in contemporary society. To appreciate and encourage the students for
their commendable participation and insightful presentations, diaries and pens
were presented to them. Prof. Karamdeep Kaur gracefully conducted the
proceedings of the programme. The seminar concluded with a formal vote of
thanks proposed by Dr. Jasdeep Kaur, who expressed gratitude to the college
management, Principal, faculty members and students for their valuable
contribution to the successful organisation of the event.
